About Athi Pattai(Fig Bark):-

Ficus carica is an Asian species of flowering plant in the mulberry family, known as the common fig (or just the fig). It is the source of the fruit also called the fig, and as such is an important crop in those areas where it is grown commercially. Native to the Middle East and western Asia, it has been sought out and cultivated since ancient times and is now widely grown throughout the world, both for its fruit and as an ornamental plant. The species has become naturalized in scattered locations in Asia and North America. Fig Tree is available throughout India. It is also known as Cluster fig in English.

  • Mouth ulcers and other mouth infections: Take bark (10 gm)of the gular tree and cook in water(400 ml) for a few minutes. Add alum(pinch) and filter. Use this water to rinse the mouth frequently.
  • Swelling: Take the bark of the gular tree, grind on stone with water to make a paste. Apply at the affected area.
  • Boils: For curing boils take gular bark paste and apply it to the affected area.
  • Pimples and freckles: Take the inner side of the gular bark and make a paste of it. Apply on pimples, acne, and freckles.
